Dockside Pediatrics to Celebrate One-Year Anniversary With Open House

PRESS RELEASE

Wilmington’s New Wave of Personalized Pediatrics

Dockside Pediatrics, Wilmington’s first and only pediatric practice to embrace the direct primary care (DPC) model, will celebrate its One-Year Anniversary with a ribbon cutting and open house. The event will be March 1 from 3 to 6 p.m. at their office, located in Suite 207 at 5710 Oleander Drive, and Drs. Marc Yandle and Nathan Cook are inviting patients and the public to come and celebrate with them and their families.  A Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting will be held at 3:30.

As a direct primary care practice, Dockside Pediatrics is able to focus on providing the personalized medical experience that parents want from their pediatric clinic. Benefits such as direct access to your physician, same-day appointments, extended office visits, and newborn home visits are all included in the monthly membership. Because DPC doesn’t involve medical insurance, the doctors have the freedom to concentrate more closely on the needs of patients.

“We are thrilled with the community’s positive response to the DPC model,” said Dr. Marc Yandle, one of the physicians at Dockside Pediatrics. “This monthly membership allows us to limit the number of patients in our practice, which means we have more time to truly know our patients and their families, to personally care for each child and give the attention parents should expect from their pediatrician.”

The direct primary care model is gaining popularity across the country. Drs. Yandle and Cook believe it frees doctors to practice medicine as it was meant to be: a true partnership between families and physicians.

“Many parents who bring their children to see us have commented on how they appreciate the personalized approach the DPC model allows. Each Dockside Pediatrics member gets the personal cell phone number and email of their pediatrician. This provides direct access to their provider to ask questions, schedule appointments, and receive efficient, personalized care in a moment’s notice, ” Dr. Nate Cook said.
